While others were finding haunted paintings or creating entire weed removal services, the YouTube channel Great-Bit Arcade was cooking something different up. Great-Bit Arcade has been creating content like this since long before the quarantine started, creating great mashup and parody videos using video games. And they themselves admit that they’ve been playing a lot of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as well as watching the beloved Disney animated series, Gravity Falls, stating, ““When all you do lately is play Animal Crossing and watch Gravity Falls, eventually the worlds collide.”

And thus, they have shared with the world this loving recreation of Gravity Falls catchy theme song.

For those unfamiliar, Gravity Falls is a show about a pair of twins, Dipper and Mabel, who are sent to spend their summer at the home of their Great Uncle Stan (known in the show as Grunkle Stan) in a small mysterious town in Oregon known as Gravity Falls. The twins quickly find themselves discovering a world of supernatural and unexplainable phenomena. The show is known for being one that appeals to all ages, featuring riveting mystery, slapstick humor, and jokes only adults will get. For anyone that’s never seen the original opening, here it is for comparison:

As you can see, Great-Bit Arcade did an incredible job recreating the opening, especially considering Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers no video making or Machinima tools. The attention to detail, in particular the attention to nailing the character’s outfits in villager form, is impressive to say the least. The art styles of Animal Crossing and Gravity Falls actually seem to compliment each other quite nicely.

If you have finished filling out Blather’s museum with all of the fish that will be gone come May 1, then consider trying out Gravity Falls on Disney Plus. It’s a delightfully charming show full of heart and surprisingly deep mysteries for a kid’s show.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on the Nintendo Switch.
