In the video, which has been viewed nearly three million times, user @Emilyinwanderland films her grandfather walking around a garden pushing her baby in a stroller.

The video contains the text: “When you’re 95-years-old Grandpa walks around the garden, so your baby can fall asleep and you can enjoy your meal without interruption.”

She captioned the video: “He did not want to stop walking baby around. Love him!”

Great-grandparents Boom

One Census Bureau official, quoted in the New York Times, argues that America is in the midst of a great-grandparent boom, estimating that by 2030, most eight-year-olds will have at least one living great-grandparent.

Baby boomers are defined as people who were born between 1946 and 1964, the 18 years following World War II, and they tended to have their children fairly young, with their children also having children fairly young, meaning Boomer grandparents are living in a generational sweet spot.

An article entitled “The Role of Great-Grandparents,” on liveabout.com, argues the “role of a great-grandparent is similar to the grandparenting role, with a couple of subtle differences.

“Some great-grandparents reprise their grandparenting roles almost exactly. Many great-grandparents provide ​child care for their great-grandchildren and travel with them. Some great-grandparents are raising their great-grandchildren. More commonly, however, great-grandparents are a bit less involved than they were as grandparents.”

A ‘Beautiful Moment’
