RELATED: Classic RPG Tropes That Aren’t Around Anymore

As far as weapons go, the Technical class favors anything light, quick, and one-handed, so pistols and short blades are the order of the day. Technical players don’t do heavy damage, but they do look undeniably cool darting around the battlefield, cocking a pistol in one hand and swishing a blade in the other.

10 Ivory Plated Duelling Pistol

The whole idea with a dueling pistol is to take your opponent down in one shot before they do the same to you. Accordingly, this pistol only takes one bullet at a time, but it does an enormous amount of damage with that bullet – more than any other pistol in the game.

Very few, if any, battles in GreedFall are duels fought over matters of honor though. Many are frantic brawls where the enemies are monsters, and the player is outnumbered. In those kinds of scraps, this gun can be a little slow. It’s not unique, it’s randomly generated. So players have to either loot it or buy it.

9 Yataghan

Keen-eyed historical sword geeks have been quick to point out that the Legendary blade named “Yataghan” in GreedFall is actually shaped like a kukri, which is a completely different kind of blade from a completely different part of the world.

All anyone else cares about is how to obtain it. The earliest opportunity to get it is during the “Mystery Of The Ancient Ruins” quest when the player visits the Didri Ruins. Head south from the Didri Ruins camp and defeat the Nadaig Glendemen beast, then open the nearby chest to get the Yataghan.

8 Noble’s Double Hammer Pistol

It wouldn’t be much good a pistol having two hammers if it didn’t also have two barrels, and the Noble’s Double Hammer Pistol has just that. This means the player can fire off two shots before reloading, each of which does a ton of damage.

It’s randomly generated though, so don’t go thinking the best way to get it is to kill lots of nobles and loot their bodies. It could show up on pretty much any corpse, in pretty much any chest, or in pretty much any shop, at any time, although with increased likelihood as the game progresses.

7 Large Cleaver

The Large Cleaver is actually pretty small as GreedFall weapons go, although its blade is very wide relative to its length. It’s not much good against armored enemies, but its high physical damage means that it’ll hack through unarmored foes very effectively.

Obtaining the Large Cleaver is a simple matter of getting a Friendly relationship status with the Congregation Of Merchants. There’s no particular method to doing this. It’s De Sardet’s own faction, and the relationship improves naturally as the main story progresses.

6 Steel Dispersion Gun

Historically, this type of gun was known as a duck foot pistol and was kind of an early version of a shotgun, in that it was designed to fire a volley over a wide area, rather than for aiming precisely at a single target.

The upside is that it has strong stats, holds three bullets, and does look kinda like a duck’s foot. The downside is its poor accuracy, which means it’s only really any good at very close range. Any player who wants one will have to hope it randomly shows up in loot or merchant stock.

5 Sacrificial Sword

It’s very different in appearance, but in terms of its function, the Sacrificial Sword is very similar to the Large Cleaver, but just a little better. It too has high physical damage, but low armor damage, so it’s better against crowds of weak enemies than against handfuls of tough ones.

It’s harder to obtain too, requiring the player to defeat a large creature guarding a cave on the eastside of Vedvilvie, which only becomes accessible during the “The Origins of Theleme” quest. It’s worth the… sacrifice though.

4 Engraved Four-Barrel Pistol

The fact that this pistol is engraved is neither here nor there, pretty looking though it may be. The important thing is that it has four barrels, which means that it can fire four shots before it needs to be reloaded. This makes it very useful in most GreedFall fights, which usually pit the player against 3 or 4 enemies.

It’s not special enough to be Legendary though, so obtaining it is a matter of keeping those fingers crossed and hoping it shows up in a shop or loot drop.

3 Light Flamberge

This is a very powerful weapon that the player can find almost at the very start of the game. The ripply shape of its blade might look decorative, but it’s actually extremely effective in battle.

As soon as the player arrives in New Serene, they can leave town and head straight to Wenshaganaw. Cross the bridge near the Wenshaveye camp, then turn right off the road and defeat the group of bears. Pick up the key in front of the abandoned tent, then take it to the clifftop near the southeast corner of the map. There you’ll find the Light Flamberge in a chest guarded by a large gang of bandits.

2 Ornate Pepper-Box

This ancestor of the modern revolver is so named because the ends of its six barrels somewhat resemble the holes in the bottom of a pepper shaker. Six barrels is a lot, more than any other gun in GreedFall, and enough to win many battles without having to reload even once.

As with every other Epic pistol, it is not unique and must be obtained largely through sheer persistence and luck. Play long enough and it’ll eventually show up in a shop or a loot drop.

1 Scimitar

The best one-handed blade in the game is actually pretty easy to obtain, even early on in the game. The only catch is that reaching the chest in which it lies requires a talent check, so players should make sure they have at least 2 Vigor before heading to Glendgnamvar to get it.

On the east side of Glendgnamvar, look out for a dead body beneath a broken bridge, then go up the slope and jump across the gap that the bridge once spanned. A little further along the path is the Scimitar inside a chest.
