Grounded: How to Unlock Tier 3 Hammer Recipe

There are several ways to unlock the Black Ox Hammer recipe, the first of which is to analyze one of two different materials in Grounded. More specifically, players will earn the Tier 3 Hammer recipe upon analyzing either a Black Ox Horn or a piece of Pupa Leather, and here are details on how to obtain these materials:

Black Ox Horn: This material can be earned by killing Black Ox Beetles. These insects in Grounded can be found near the Abandoned Gardening Glove in the northwest corner of the yard and also near the Wheelbarrow in the northeast corner of the yard, and they can be quite difficult to dispatch. Pupa Leather: The first steps toward getting Pupa Leather are to obtain and analyze Pupa Hide. These Hides come from Pupas, which are found in the canyons near the deck in the northwest corner of the map, and they are harvested with a Tier 3 Axe. With some Pupa Hides in hand, players can convert them into Leather at a Workbench or Jerky Rack in Grounded.

Fans can also unlock the Black Ox Hammer recipe by reaching Brainpower Level 13. Players will need both of the aforementioned materials in order to craft the tool, though, which makes this alternative method for earning the recipe a bit redundant.

Grounded: How to Craft Tier 3 Hammer

Once a fan has unlocked the Black Ox Hammer recipe, they can create the tool at a Workbench by combining one Black Ox Horn, five Black Ox Parts, and two Pupa Leather. Again, these items are obtained by tracking down Black Ox Beetles and Pupas, both of which can be found in the northwest corner of the yard. To note, repairing this Tier 3 tool requires three Larva Spikes and one Black Ox Horn, and Grounded players may thus want to consider farming a few additional Horns during their initial hunt for Black Ox Beetles.

Grounded is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
